To keep with the correct "SS-350" model designation, I've decided to build up a 2002 Z06 Corvette LS6 engine. Motorsport Technologies, Inc. was contacted to build the solid 350ci LS6 engine for this car. It has Wiseco forged pistons, Lunati billet connecting rods, stock LS6 crankshaft, ARP head studs, and a set of their Stage 2R ported/polished LS6 heads. These heads have 2.055" intake and 1.60" exhaust valves, along with custom Isky dual springs and titanium retainers. The billet camshaft was custom ground at 230/230 .591/.591 on a 114 lobe seperation angle. That setup alone should put this vehicle in the 430-440 rear wheel horsepower range easily. But, that isn't quite enough for me....

Superchargers have always fascinated me, and I think they add an exotic effect to a custom vehicle. I gave Magna Charger a call and had them build a custom supercharger kit specifically for this project. Its similar to their 2004 GTO kit, with its shaft-driven belt system, with an internal air to water intercooler. I ordered it fully polished, and to be driven with the 4th gen f-body serpentine belt/pulley system. Initial baseline dyno testing provided 506 rear wheel horsepower, and 501 ft-lbs rear wheel torque on the Dynojet. We plan on increasing this figure with some re-routing of the fuel lines and custom tuning. This supercharger kit is beautiful, and with an awesome piece of eye candy such as this setup, you can expect that hood to be popped open for every showing! I fabricated the custom intake tube out of 3.5 inch exhaust pipe, and had it chrome plated. The factory steel cowl hood had to be trimmed underneath in certain areas to clear the throttle body and intake tube. Very minor clearance work, but definitely worth it to keep the factory hood lines. Once I run some 10s with this setup, I plan on adding a dose of nitrous to the mix, with hopes of getting the car into the 9s down the quarter-mile.

For the exhaust system, I installed a set of Stainless Works 1-3/4" 304 stainless steel longtube headers. These are specifically made for 1st generation Camaros with LS1/LS6 engines swapped into them. These headers lead into a Stainless Works 304 stainless steel dual 3" exhaust system, fully equipped with an X-pipe and dual stainless turbo mufflers. This kit is designed to work with the LS1/LS6 longtube headers.
