Leiser HTPC - Config ok?

Hoi zäme

Da mein aktueller DVD-Player langsam den Geist aufgibt und meine Pioneer-Stereoanlage noch von 1996 ist, möchte ich jetzt einen grossen Schritt vorwärts wagen: HTPC.

Meine Vorstellung:
- 7" Touchscreen (nicht diskutabel, dass wollen wir unbedingt)
- Fernbedienung
- klassischer Drehknopf für die Lautstärke
- WLAN-fähig
- sehr leise und kühl, vielleicht sogar passive Kühlung
- halbwegs energieeffizient/sparsam
- Anschlussmöglichkeiten für DVI & HDMI
- flexibel aufrüstbar
- schwarzes Case

Einsatzgebiet:
- Video schauen (DVD, AVI, Divx usw.) von DVD, Festplatte, externen Laufwerken in sämtlichen Formaten (h264, xvid, mpeg2, ... in SD und HD)
- auch Aufnehmen von Fernsehsendungen/Radio auf Festplatte
- CD & (Internet)radio hören
- surroundsoundfähig - also Möglichkeit ein gutes THX-System anzuschliessen und davon auch was zu haben
- später auch HDTV-Fähig sein (im Moment noch unwichtig)

Passt das so oder liegen da noch "Fallen" im Setup?

Noch einige Randfragen:
Kann ich mit dem HTPC auch Radio hören, wenn der TV aus ist?
Kann ich (über Adapter) einen Röhrenfernseher anschliessen?
Braucht ein HTPC auch viel Bootzeit oder ist der gleich einsatzfähig?
Geht das Touchscreen Display in den Standby (aus geht), wenn man DVD schaut?
Braucht ein HTPC viel Fummerlei im Betrieb, oder kann den meine Frau auch mit ein paar Tatschern leicht bedienen?

Wie Ihr seht, bin ich noch absoluter HTPC-Laie, freue mich aber auf Eure Hilfe.

Evtl. lieber eine NVIDIA Graka statt ATI?
Welche würden sich denn da eignen für einen HTPC?

I've had much better results with nVidia-based cards (68xx cards and higher), as they seem to behave and stay where you set them.
