Hallo von ein verdammtes Auslander.

  • Hoi zame!

:applaus

Mein alte rig is jetzt ambisschen pienlich und "lol":

      Core2 E6600 ATI 4870
      4GB DDR2 RAM
      Corsair HX 620

Ich hab dies neue specs geplannt:

    [quote]Intel Core i5 3570K
    Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
    Radeon 7850
    16GB RAM
512GB SSD (teuer aber verbraucht für mein apps und games)

Ich freue mich auf ein Gespräch weiter mit Ihnen! Und auch muss ich sagen Gott sei Dank für google translate (aber nicht immer nur wenn ic problems haben). Heh. :D

    Warnung: Englander innen.

  • 1 GB RAM are you joking ? Should be 16 or so ;) Got the same motherboard in my rig, works like a charm (but still no idea, what I built my system for :D ).

On the other hand: Stay with your (hopefully real) social life, it's more fun than these stupid bastard machineries :P

  • Ahh 4 posts and already my claim of having a social life is called into question? Didn't take long. :D :totlach

No but jokes aside, I really will never lose my love of PC's... I have in my life spent days and days (months) locked away in my bedroom playing around with my PC and gaming (I have been into PC's and gaming since before the 3DFX days). I used to be a moderator on a busy overclocking forum, but in the last few years I stopped and used my PC only for playing media. I then recently decided to build a new media PC with the intentions to build it cool and quiet and "only for media"... and then of course I thought screw it, lets make it a gaming rig too.

Hell, no matter how much I go out and party, i'm damn proud of my geeky side. :D

  • I was just kidding about your social life ;)

Hell yeah, the good old 3dfx times... still got a PIII rig with a V2 SLI setup running :D
I miss these days a littlebit, the relationship between you and your rig was way more intense (and expensive... and if you had a chipset that required an VIA 4in1 driver it was like a girlfriend: Always a different mood and somedays a horrible headache when you wanted to have some fun).

About your new setup: Since these are quite new components, it might be a little hard to find them second hand already. The times when everyone was doing surgery on their girlfriends whenever a new upgrade was available are sadly over (Yay, I like playing with all sorts of girlfriends).

  • I know, I was kidding also. ;)

3DFX days were insane... I remember the time I got my first Diamond Monster... I think one night I literally started praying to it. :D

As for the components being available second hand... I don't know how the second-hand market is in Switerland, but in the UK you always find a 7850 or i5/i7 for sale as people are constantly upgrading to the latest thing. I would have thought at least the 7850 should be possible, but if not, meh, i'll just buy it from Digitec.ch. :)

  • whats your budget for your new pron player aka media/gaming machine?

Dr Cox: "I'm fairly sure that if they took all the porn off the Internet, there'd only be 1 website left, and it would be called Bring Back The Porn."

  • Well I have a laptop also, so that is my primary pron device. ;)

As for budget... I don't really have one that i'm setting, but am well aware of my needs so I guess that amounts to the same thing.

I will only game at 1080p (50" plasma), and even then mostly RPG's and RTS games, so i think anything over an i5 3xxx and an AMD 7850 2Gb would be wasted.

I already have a Silverstone Sugo SG05 case (modded for extra fans) and a PSU/Blu-Ray drive, so all I need are CPU/MOBO/GPU/RAM.

Any recommendations on a good mid-range motherboard by the way? Gigabyte strongly preferred. :)

  • If you have to save money:
    - Forget the 512GB SSD and buy a smaller one for OS
    - Buy a cheap HDD as additional storage
    - Buy a new MOBO,GPU,CPU,RAM.

    >As for budget... I don't really have one that i'm setting...
    BUY IT NOW & NEW

  • If you're going for an SSD, there's a discussion going on here about OCZ-SSD's failing a lot more often, then their counterparts from the competition.

If you want something hassle-free go for Crucial.

OCZ's pricing might be tempting, but you might run into a lot of trouble in the long run.

  • Thanks for the advice guys much appreciated. :)

By the way I notice that at Digitec they have the Club 3D 7950 3GB royalQueen for only 279chf... that's a full 65chf cheaper than all the other 7950's they have on offer, and the cheapest 7850 is only around 50chf less!

However, I read online that it may be cheaper because it uses the AMD reference cooler... is that's a problem, is the cooling so bad?
